More Jobs Coming To The Triangle Area Of North Carolina.
Sequenom, a California based company plans to open a facility in Research Triangle Park and hire up to 242 people in four years. Sequenom is a prenatal diagnostic testing company who will launch the MaterniT21 test in the coming months, which is meant to advance prenatal screening for trisomy 21, the most common cause of Down Syndrome.
The firm picked North Carolina because of access to worker training at area universities, the proximity to Raleigh Durham International Airport, the quality of the area work force, and the availability of lab space.
Paul Maier, Sequenom’s CFO said “The North Carolina region shows great promise for us, as an ideal location on the East Coast with a robust like-minded community and commitment to advancing our technologies through education and jobs creation.”
The company will receive up to $2.3 million in state tax incentives if they meet hiring commitments. Governor Purdue announced that Sequenom was coming to Research Triangle Park and North Carolina which is the third biggest life science industry state in the country and employs 50,000 people. The area around Research Triangle Park is one of the few areas in the country growing and attracting newer industries and ground breaking technologie’s, and the local universities like Duke, NC State and UNC are educating the future employees as are some of the community colleges, like Wake Tech and Johnston Community College.
The quality of life, low taxes, affordable housing, great weather are big attractions for encouraging workers to re-locate to the Triangle and they come from all over the World. Some people who make the move are smitten immediately and tell all their folks back home to do like wise.
The area is a wonderful place to live for the above reasons but also the great schools which is so important to people, the access to recreation, parks and open space are a priority to many of the cities and towns that make up the Triangle, like Raleigh and Clayton and Chapel Hill.
